Week # 1 Review

Since this is the first time I’m doing this process I’m going to review how I made the onion juice mixture and how I put it in my hair. So….here we go! 😀

Onion Juice Making Review

This recipe was beyond easy…like, I’m shocked how easy this recipe is!

Onion Juice Mixture

Surprisingly, the onion that I used didn’t stink, burn my eyes, or have any other side effects onions create. We already had  half an onion in the fridge, so when I cut the onion into chunks and blended I didn’t get any of those side effects. I’m not sure if it was because the onion was previously cut, it was in the fridge, or because it was a large yellow onion. I don’t know why but nothing happened this time.

I originally didn’t want to add any water to this recipe because, I didn’t want to water down any of the onions benefits. (Does that make sense?) However, I’m glad I put a few tablespoons of water in the blender, because it made the onions easier to blend out. And easier to strain through the cheese cloth compared to if I didn’t use any water.

The hardest part of the recipe was straining the onion mixture through the cheese cloth. I HIGHLY  recommend straining it in smaller batches. My mother and I did larger sections because she wanted to get it over with. It wasn’t hard, but it would have been a lot easier if we did it in smaller sections.

Overall, a half of a large yellow onion and a few tablespoons of water gave me enough to fill a small applicator bottle, Which I stored in my fridge.

Week 1 Review

The application part of this process was very simple. I started to apply the solution directly to my scalp from the applicator bottle. But, I found it to be easier and cleaner to put some of the solution in my palm and massage it into the affected area. I wasn’t sure if I was putting enough on, so I kept applying the solution until the area was drenched. After I applied the onion mixture I sat with it, in my hair, for 30 minutes.

Important Note: The mixture didn’t stink when I was making it. BUT it stunk to high heavens when I applied it. And I just wanted to let you know if you’re going to try this mixture.

Bentonite Clay Mixture 2In order to get the onion mixture out of the affected area you need to wash it out with your shampoo or cleansing agent.  I choose bentonite clay because it’s my weekly conditioner…big mistake. It was so difficult to wash it out from just the front of my hair and I think I know where I messed up.

  1. I made the bentonite clay way to thick. I usually make this on the thick-ish side. Because I like it to saturate and soften my curls with the clay. If I make it thinner I wouldn’t have the wash-out issue…it was a struggle.
  2. I made to much of the bentonite clay mixture. When I make the clay mixture I usually make a little more than I intend to. And I don’t want to waste it, so I apply ALL the mixture to my hair. Like, scraping the sides all of the mixture.
  3. Moral of the story…..Make less and thinner.

I’ve applied, and I’m going to continue to apply, the onion juice treatment to my edges twice a week. One on Sunday (my wash day) and maybe on Monday. I’m not sure if I want to do it on Monday or a Wednesday. I’ll see. Anyways, here’s the results I’ve gotten from the first week I’ve used the treatment. 😀 If you would like to see my beginning pictures click here.

  1. Apply it with cotton wool, it will be easier and faster, I too experienced no effects from the fresh uncut onions I used, they were not even in the fridge, just fresh with skin, that I peeled, cut and blended WITHOUT water, yet no burning effect from juice on scalp or other side effects, yes it stinks when applied.

The Onions get blended perfectly without water and there is no dilution either, ofcourse it takes a longer time, just keep moving the onions every few seconds with a spoon when they stop blending, put the blender off when you do that and do not use a metal spoon or whatever tool to do this, if you do then unplug the blender first. Also do not shake your blender while its running, it caused the motor on mine to start making strange noises, probably got damaged in someway with doing that.

By the way I have only used the juice twice so far, getting results like yours in a week. would be miraculous.
